So beloved was this distant land by the Mughal Emperors that
they came here to unwind in the loveliness and tranquilly of the
valley. These men were powerful and fearless: yet full of
passion for beauty. They were inspired by the mountains and the
Dal Lake to create a Paradise on Earth. Today visitors and
locals can still walk in the fabled gardens - Shalimar,
Chesmashahi and Nishat - filled with cascading tinkling
fountains, flowerbeds ablaze with colour and crowned by the
waters of the Dal Lake.
Travelcare offers lovers of nature memorable tours to wander
these magnificent gardens guided by a local specialist. Outings
will also be arranged to Gulmarg - The Meadow of Flowers
