* Omar to
Head NC-Cong Govt. in JK
Srinagar, Dec 30: After two days of
hectic deliberations, the National
Conference president, Omar Abdullah on
Tuesday announced that the NC and
Congress would form the next coalition
government in Jammu and Kashmir, and he
will be the chief minister.
“NC and Congress would be equal partners
in the coalition and I will head it,”
Omar told reporters at New Delhi after
meeting the Congress president Sonia
Gandhi. “I’m grateful to Sonia ji for
accepting our proposal of alliance to
form the government,” Omar said.
Asked if there would be any power
sharing arrangement between the two
parties, he said, “ There has been no
discussion on power sharing so far.”
NC emerged as single largest party on
Sunday after bagging 28 seats in the
seven phased assembly elections in the
state, while Congress secured 17 seats.
